Great site.. Having a look at all your posts makes me feel quite young, and I still actually live in Bangor! Hi to all my friends, who probably won't see this, but hi anyway. Wonder who actually maintains this site? Also please do visit my own site. Thanks!!!

Can't seem to get a message on the message board so thought I'd try this. I'm trying to contact anyone who might have known my Mum, Evelyn Mailey, when she worked in the Cafe in the Tonic duirng the second world war. Or perhaps you knew her Brothers Dick and Davy who served in the Royal Marines during the war, or her sister Lily.

My grandfather's parents emigrated from County Down in the mid-1800's, so the story goes. Are my memories of the story correct pertaining to the Brown name in County Down?

Hi, My husband and I visited Bangor for the first time a few weeks ago. We stayed in a guest house overlooking the Marina. We found Bangor to be a beautiful and relaxing place and hope to return for a longer stay sometime. I looked in Bangor Abbey graveyard for John Wright's tombstone(he is my great, great, great, great Grandfather). I could not find it but thought the Abbey was very lovely. I enjoy your website and will order some of the books about the history of Bangor.

I was visiting Bangor for the first time at the week-end, from Thur 7th Aug until Sun 10th August 2003, What a beautiful place Bangor is, I was made very welcome at the B+B where I stayed, very friendly, I could not have wished for anything better. My kindest regards to all at Bangor, I will certainly visit again. Jan Byers

Just got home from a seven week holiday had the greatest time in Bangor and Belfast IT was so good just to walk around the sea front and along to Helens Bay it all looked so beautiful I have seen a lot of the world but still think there is nothing like being at home. Just love how everyone has time to say hello and to help if they can. Shall be home again soon. Maureen

Hi folks, This is a little add-on. I left Bangor in Nov. 1965 and still remember my bro. Bill meeting me near the Gas works and taking a big, big bite out of my chip bun. He now lives in USA. Ken
